Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In the 5th grade, I made my friends learn the choreo to "It's Gonna Be Me" by NSYNC & we performed it for the class. Students were meant to do a short dance but I went overboard, of course. But that feeling when they cheered is one I'll never forget.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Daniel Caesar, Freudian Frank Ocean, Blonde Frank Ocean, channel ORANGE I love these albums, simply because they have no skips. Every time I press play, I’m occupied for the next hour, and yes Frank is on there twice, haha. I believe Frank Ocean changed the course of R&B and he’s a huge inspiration.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Broken” One that stands out to me is Broken. It marked a shift in my music’s quality, both in lyrics and production. I began writing it loosely about my father, and when he passed three days later, I stopped writing to honor him/capture that moment in time.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A turning point in my career was choosing to pursue music at all. After moving back to Atlanta, post-college, I went to an open mic at Department Store & I was hooked. The floor literally shook. I looked at the stage & thought, “I could do that.”
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There’s so much left on my bucket list. There're so many songs I want to sing & so many people I want to write for. My North Star has always been the Songwriters Hall Of Fame & I believe many other goals will be ticked off by the time I get there.
