About D'Wayne Wiggins
One-third of Tony! Toni! Toné!, D'Wayne Wiggins was a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer whose lone official solo album, Eyes Never Lie (2000), was very much in the ebullient, soul-rooted contemporary R&B spirit of the group he co-founded. Although he didn't release another solo LP, Wiggins briefly led a separate group dubbed the Tonyies and was bandleader for comedian D.L. Hughley's Weekends at the D.L. Additionally, he helped develop emergent talent such as Destiny's Child and Keyshia Cole, and collaborated with artists ranging from Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera to fellow Bay Area natives like Too $hort, Messy Marv, and the Coup. Wiggins died in 2025, two years after a Tony! Toni! Toné! reunion tour.
