The Canadian Brass, formed in 1970, became the world's most popular brass quintet, pioneering an entertaining stage format. Trombonist Eugene Watts and tuba player Charles Daellenbach were founding members, with Watts contributing to the group's unique programming and Daellenbach adding humor and banter. Early members included trumpeters Bill Philips and Stuart Laughton, and long-term members Ron Romm and Fred Mills. Jens Lindemann joined in 1996, bringing expertise on the high piccolo trumpet. Ryan Anthony joined in 2000, and the lineup since 2011 includes Charles Daellenbach, Brandon Ridenour, Chris Coletti, Eric Reed, and Achilles Liarmakopoulos. The Canadian Brass has enriched the brass quintet repertoire with many commissioned works and arrangements, releasing over 50 LPs and CDs and touring globally.
