About Ed Wilson
b. Edward John Wilson, 22 June 1944, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In the 50s Wilson played trombone with several jazz and dance bands in various parts of Australia and also broadcast extensively. In the late 60s he teamed up with Warren Daly to form a big band using seasoned jazz and studio musicians. This band remained active on and off into the early 80s. Subsequently, Wilson led his own band and also became musical director for showbands at hotels and casinos. A strong player with a direct uncluttered style, Wilson echoed the tradition of swing era players.
