Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember in my grandparents' backyard at a family cookout. Inevitably someone would start singing--bluegrass, hymns, mountain songs from the Carolinas--and soon everyone would be harmonizing together. I still love vocal harmonies to this day.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? The Clash, London Calling The Who, Live At Leeds (40th Anniversary Edition) LIVE AT LEEDS taught me how to play guitar (and how to jam). LONDON CALLING is simply unparalleled in terms of songs, attitude, and musicality
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Down in the Valley” Down in the Valley is a song about the town in western Pennsylvania where I was born. Though I left there when I was 8, headed for Texas, that place - and the family that we left behind - will always have a special place in my heart.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was demoing a song, and the bassist on the session had played in Robert Plant's Band of Joy, and also with Emmylou Harris. He looked up at me as we listened through and said, "This is a GOOD song." Nothing like when a pro compliments your work.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? TONS. Working with my heroes, sharing songs with as many folks as will listen. Trying to do my part to make the world a little bit better.
