From barangay rap battles to ruling the airwaves, Ex Battalion have resuscitated Filipinos’ appreciation for homegrown hip-hop in just a few years. The group rose to fame with chart topper “No Games” feat. King Badger and Skusta Clee in 2016, followed by earworm “Hayaan Mo Sila” the next year. Their sound is relatably light—steeped in laidback verses, infectious hooks and street-driven attitude: just consider “Twerk” and “Mukang Malabo” from debut album X (2016) as examples. With a balancing act between spirited verses and unassuming cleverness, ExB continue to invigorate listeners with every play.
