Falls are Australian duo Melinda Kirwin and Simon Rudston-Brown, who spin intimate yet catchy indie folk with warm vocal harmonies. Formed in the early 2010s, the pair began playing together at a regular gig in a hotel in Sydney after breaking up as a romantic couple. Word of their sound spread, and Falls earned tour support spots in Australia for bands including the Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men. They signed with Verve Records shortly before the release of their debut EP, 2014's Into the Fire, and relocated to the U.S., where they toured extensively, including stops at music festivals such as Bumbershoot, CMJ, and South by Southwest. That winter, they finished recording their first full-length in Omaha, Nebraska with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, She & Him, Jenny Lewis). The year 2015 saw more touring, including appearances at summer festivals Bonnaroo and Firefly in anticipation of the release of Omaha that October. ~ Marcy Donelson
