In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
As a young kid I found a broken acoustic guitar with missing strings in the back of a closet and was captivated by the sound. I deeply wanted to figure out how to make music. The epiphany that music was somehow both math and emotion came later.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Billy Strings, Highway Prayers
Radiohead, In Rainbows
The Police, Outlandos D'Amour (Remastered 2003)
The Police’s debut changed how I saw rock guitar and opened up the world of jazz for me. Billy Strings’s major label debut is like Blonde on Blonde for newgrass, from a brilliant guitarist. In Rainbows may be the most gorgeous rock album ever made.

“Green Chile Cheeseburger (Live)”
I named this tune after one of my favorite foods, but it didn’t quite fall into place until I changed the main riff from triads to arpeggios.
This is the first time I played it that way live and the audience response at the end makes me smile.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
The crowd response during my first Liberty Hall performance was so amazing. Unfortunately the digital recording stopped halfway through so I only salvaged four tracks for the EP. It was a great and encouraging start.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Everything is still on the list except playing my first gig. The list is infinite and the joy is in the journey.
