Straddling plaintive, pastoral, traditional Scottish folk stylings and sophisticated, exploratory contemporary jazz, Fergus McCreadie is an award-winning pianist and composer who rose out of the late-2010s Glasgow jazz scene. 2018 saw the release of Turas, McCreadie's self-released debut album. Cairn, his debut album for Edition Records, reached number two on the U.K. Jazz Chart in 2021. With 2022's Forest Floor, McCreadie's star began rising on the European jazz scene. It garnered a Mercury Prize nomination and won Best Album at the Scottish Jazz Awards and Scottish Album of the Year. 2023 brought Sketches, a solo piano EP, before McCreadie returned to his trio (double bassist David Bowden, drummer Stephen Henderson) for 2024's dynamic, charting Stream. After touring relentlessly in early 2025, McCreadie and his trio returned to Edition for album number four, The Shieling.
