A Norwegian version of the folk-rock band Steeleye Span, Folque were formed in 1973 and had a strong, ringing sound, their music based on rich Norse folk legend as well as English folk songs. They disbanded in 1984, but later re-formed in 1992 as an acoustic four-piece unit, playing their old repertoire in a back-to-basics format. There have been many members in Folque’s lineup from the '70s into the new millennium, including Jørn Jensen (vocals/guitar/dulcimer), Trond Øverland (bass/piano), Trond Villa (fiddle), Lisa Helljesen (vocals), Eilif Amundsen (banjo/guitar), Morten Bing (mandolin/dulcimer/bouzouki), Lars Helljesen (vocals/guitar), Morten Jakobsen (drums), Jenn E. Mortensen (vocals), Øyvind Rauset (fiddle), Per Vestaby (bass), Pål Søvik (drums), Jan Devik (bass), Roald Thommesen (bass), Truls Tambs-Lyche (bass), and Espen Løvstad (percussion).
