While Chilean reggaeton only became globally visible in the early 2020s, most noticeably after the viral success of Cris MJ's "Una Noche en Medellín," the genre's local development had been at least a decade in the making. Fran C, a producer and singer from Santiago, played a pivotal role in the growth of urban music in the country, not so much as a solo artist (he released his first single in 2014), but as a beatmaker, entrepreneur, talent scout, and scene creator. His first solo album, Hot (2024), doubled as a showcase for many of his associated artists such as Jere Klein, Marcianeke, Pablo Chill-E, El Jordan 23, Kevin Martes 13, and more.
