Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Harmonizing with my brother Mike in our room in the farmhouse where we grew up. We would listen to Beach Boys records together and try to replicate the harmonies when we were kids. That's the ultimate memory - that feeling of closeness in the voices.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Elliott Smith, Either/Or
Simon & Garfunkel, Bookends
The Beach Boys, The Beach Boys Today! (Mono & Stereo)
All three of these records are packed with things that really move me on a deep level - vulnerable lyrics, gorgeous harmonies, and tons of melodies that sit right in that tender and elusive space between hope and sadness. Happy sad songs? I'm in!

“Sophocles”
I think everybody has felt, at some point, an almost desperate sense of unfulfilled longing for someone that seems to get bigger and deeper the more they realize it's not going to work out. So I tried to write something achingly beautiful about that.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Aside from just the gift of people listening to the music, meeting Brian Wilson and getting to say thank you to him for all of his music and inspiration was amazing. Also, a four-star review of Fixers & Elixirs in Shindig! (March 2020) wasn't bad!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Headlining a tour would be a mountain top experience. Besides just putting meaningful music out for as long as I can, my wildest dream would be having Brian Wilson produce a Frederick Julius record. That would be a total mind-blower!
