In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child I always loved to sing, but at the same time I had a "don't tell me what to do," kind of attitude. This behavior caused me to get kicked out of chorus when I was 12. Fortunately, my mother called the teacher and pleaded on my behalf.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chris Stapleton, Traveller Jason Isbell, Southeastern Shawn Mullins, Soul's Core The writing on Southeastern was so truthful that I quickly related to it & began to write again. As a teen I enjoyed Soul's Core due to it's midwestern feel and storytelling. Traveller reminded me to sing using my full voice without holding back.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Perfect” I was sitting in hotel room feeling bad about myself. Asking questions like, am I a good Dad or am I a good husband? The song is a prayer about being thankful for my imperfections because whenever there are gaps...the Lord will fill them in.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 2019 we performed at the Outlaw Music Festival alongside Allison Krauss, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson. At the end I got to go out on stage with those fine people and sing along to the old classic hymn, I'll Fly Away. An amazing night.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? No bucket list. As an artist I'm always working and pushing myself to be better than I was the day before. I'm excited to see what happens next. The unknown scares the hell out of me but I've got a firm grip and I'm charging toward it.
