Norway's GABIFUEGO seemingly sprung from nowhere, dropping a slew of tracks at the beginning of 2020, mixing the unlikely bedfellows of South American reggaetón and woozy, Norwegian indie pop on his debut EP Romanticas.
As a member of Bergen-based boy pablo, Gabriel Muñoz had already found himself in the spotlight with the group's infectious indie pop debut in 2017. With his confidence strengthened, Muñoz decided to branch out on his own with the solo project GABIFUEGO. Combining his Chilean heritage and Norwegian upbringing, Muñoz mixed the sound of reggaetón with the infectious melodies of Norwegian pop. Releasing a number of tracks in quick succession at the beginning of 2020 -- including "Moviendo," "Para Nada," and the Astrid S-featuring "Contigo Tengo Feeling" -- Muñoz included them with newer material for his October 2020 debut EP Romanticas. ~ Rich Wilson
