About GENER8ION
GENER8ION emerged from the imagination of French visual artist and DJ/producer Benoit Heitz in 2014 when Heitz—who started releasing music as Surkin in 2006—debuted the project with the single “The New International Sound.”
The energetic and intense EP The New International Sound, Pt. 2 followed in 2015, sparking a long-standing partnership with French director Romain Gavras, who earned an executive producer credit on the title track’s music video.
A trickle of GENER8ION releases followed, including 2021’s “Neo Surf,” an electropop collab with 070 Shake, that saw Gavras at the helm of the video. GENER8ION then served as the composer for the director’s 2022 movie ATHENA.
Once again, Heitz tapped the filmmaker for the visuals to the 2026 GENER8ION songs “STORM I” and “STORM II” (with Swedish rapper Yung Lean on vocals)—part of the full-length hyperpop album Love & Tears—blurring the lines between dance floor and screen by fusing bleak and cinematic imagery with driving beats.
