J-pop band Genie High was created as part of the Japanese TV variety show Bazooka as a way to attract press attention to the program.
∙ gesunokiwamiotome vocalist Enon Kawatani, the only band member who is not also a cast member on Bazooka, writes all their material.
∙ The video for “Katame De Ijyou Ni Koishiteru,” the band’s debut single, has garnered more than 15 million views.
∙ Keyboardist Takashi Niigaki ghostwrote the acclaimed “Hiroshima Symphony” for composer Mamoru Samuragochi.
∙ With her math-rock band Tricot, vocalist Ikkyu Nakajima has released two Top 20 albums in Japan and a No. 5 LP on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
