Good Neighbours began when Oli Fox (from Essex) and Scott Verrill (from London) met and connected over a love of upbeat pop and a disdain for irony. The two young singer-songwriters, each with some solo successes on their CVs, began playing together casually in 2023, partly because their studios were close to each other, and then formed an official band with a cleverly literal name. When a demo clip of their song “Home” took off on social media in 2024, they hurried to release it as their first single and had an instant viral hit. Sweet and soulful, “Home” is an anthemic love ballad destined to be a first-dance song at weddings. Its reverberating, offbeat duet and whistle hook triggered nostalgia for 2000s and 2010s indie megahits—as well as a major-label bidding war. It was a resounding introduction to what these neighbors could accomplish as a team.
