About Greg Hirsch
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I remember Jimmy Durante & Sammy Fain sitting at the piano composing wonderful music.
I believe Sammy was playing Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing and Jimmy was singing the words in his typical comic fashion. I was just a kid.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Alan Jackson, 34 Number Ones
George Strait, Strait From the Heart
Josh Turner, Your Man
These are my favorites because they have real down to earth classic country songs with great lyrics and wonderful melodies. The vocals are easy to understand because these vocalists make sure their words are clear and audible. They sound honest too.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Going Home to Nowhere”
I really like the way the song starts off with a fellow who really needs to find some direction in his life but toward the end he finds a companion who helps him find hope again.
I like the clarity of the vocals and the melody is sweet too.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
I received a call from Wood Newton who is a well known songwriter and he told me my songs are solid and that he likes them.
That made all the effort worthwhile! He is a legend in country music and his opinion really matters.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
My bucket list item is to have a famous country western singer decide to record a song using my lyrics.
