Artist Biography
b. 1945, Denmark. One of the overlooked artists in Australia, Poulsen was active in the late 60s. His music reflected the hippie lifestyle and ‘alternative culture’. The whimsical Poulsen could produce contagious melodies with ease and was asked to write songs for other well-known mainstream performers, notably John Farnham. His second album, 1972’s Lost & Found, lacked the commercial impact of its predecessor, Natural High, which contained his hit single ‘Boom Sha La La Lo’. Later in the 70s, he travelled the world whilst fighting cancer, which was threatening to destroy his career. Despite playing occasionally, he did not record any material in the 80s and 90s, except for several albums of children’s songs.
