Harshavardhan Rameshwar describes himself as a “music composer, beat producer, beatboxer, rapper and singer” on social media. It’s these combined skills that have made him a favourite of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film-maker enlisted Rameshwar to score the background music for his films, the Telugu-language Arjun Reddy (2017) and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh (2019) as well as the 2023 Bollywood blockbuster ANIMAL, which won him a Filmfare Award. Rameshwar also contributed the song “Papa Meri Jaan” to the soundtrack of ANIMAL, the background music for which proved to be so popular with audiences that it became one of the rare filmi scores to be released as an album in its own right. While Vanga has provided the avenue for Rameshwar’s prominent hits, the Chennai-born multi-hyphenate is regularly sought out by other film-makers and has a growing list of Telugu and Tamil movie credits, as both a composer and music director, to his name.
