In 2013, indie-rock band Hippo Campus got together in high school with one goal in mind: “Let’s start a band and make our friends dance.”
∙ Lead vocalist Jake Luppen was a classically trained opera singer prior to forming the band.
∙ Their 2017 jangle-pop-to-hip-hop debut album, Landmark, peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
∙ In 2019, they released Demos I—which featured eight of the ten songs from the previous year’s Bambi—offering fans insight into, as they put it, “where we were creatively throughout the process.”
Influenced by Hippo CampusHippo Campus has influenced the music of Coastal Club, Bowling Shoes, Birds of Bellwoods and more.
