Imán Califato Independiente was a late-'70s Spanish progressive band that fused together art rock with Arab-esque melodies and jazz fusion. The group consisted of Kiko Guerrero (drums and percussion), Urbano Moraes (bass, percussion), Manuel Rodriguez (guitar, vocals), and Marcos Mantero (keyboards). While the keyboard and guitar work is notable, it was Moraes' bass work that was the band's main instrument. The group's eponymous debut was released in 1978, followed by the short but elaborate Camino Del Aguila in 1980. ~ Geoff Orens
