About Jack West
An innovative acoustic guitarist from Northern California, Jack West has built a signature percussive style that blends jazz, rock, folk, and funk played with dexterity and a tasteful but virtuosic flair. He first emerged in the mid-'90s leading the ensemble Curvature, which produced standout albums like 1998's Big Comet Headed for Earth and 2001's Big Ideas. Over the next two decades, he continued to perform, record, and teach workshops while also developing a concurrent career as an inventor with several musical- and solar-related patents to his credit. In late 2025, West collaborated with Walter Strauss on a series of acoustic guitar duets ahead of their joint 2026 album, Guitars on Life, for Otá Records. On the same day, the label released Essential Curvature. Titled after a highly original ensemble West led during the late '90s and early 2000s, its source material was drawn from Curvature's five virtually unclassifiable albums.
