About James L. Stead
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Playing the drums for a live production and i never ever had any lessons. I just picked up the sticks and started playing. I must have been about 10 years old... that's when I new music was for me.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Ben Howard, Every Kingdom
Metallica, Metallica (Remastered)
Pink Floyd, The Division Bell
Metallica's Black album has to be one of the best sounding albums of its kind. When I heard Nothing else matters for the first time, that's when I new I wanted to play the guitar. Every Kingdom and Division bell hold a dear place in my soul.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Don't Leave Me Outside”
I found myself playing the song on my Guitar before I'd even thought about putting lyrics to it. I love the way it feels on guitar and singing the lyrics come so naturally. When I went into the studio to record, I did the whole thing in one take.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Playing the acoustic stage at Guilfest has to be one of the top moments of my musical career It was 9pm in the summer and the whole thing was just perfect. The stage was great, the sound was great, the people where great.... Just perfect.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I'd like to finish this album and get it released! Maybe even get a song used in a series of a film. To play live on TV would be a great experience and to also be on a few good Spotify playlists.
