Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Being in the studio with my father Ernie Couch in Nashville. He had a recording contract with an independent label and in the late 70s there was a show called "Dallas." He had been asked to record a country song based on that show. "Talkin Bout J.R."
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bing Crosby, Merry Christmas: Bing Crosby Jerry Lee Lewis, The Greatest Live Show On Earth (Live At The Municipal Auditorium, Birmingham, Alabama/1964) The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds Listening to Brian Wilson's intricate harmonies and arrangements has always fascinated me. Hearing the raw energy of Jerry Lee's vocals and his command over his instrument. Bing's way of delivering a mellow phrase with such ease.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Starry Starry Night” It's a fan favorite, with a strong recognizable melody. Then when you add the equally powerful words, you get that music magic you want from every song.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The interaction you get with other artists from being in the Nashville. I love the times when those paths cross. Kenny Lovelace, who was Jerry Lee Lewis's guitarist plays on a number of tracks with me and having those musical moments mean the most.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I think to write and record a gospel song with either Brian Wilson or Paul McCartney. I think the results would have to be amazing.
