Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The most memorable wasn't necessarily the earliest one. I sang for my Pre-K4 graduation ceremony, and a certain lead part was very high. I managed, but it must have shown terribly on my face because everyone would chuckle whenever I hit the note.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aqualung, Memory Man Childish Gambino, Because the Internet Nick Hakim, Where Will We Go, Pt. 2 - EP I love a lot of different kinds of music, so this was a tough decision to make. I picked these because each one feels like a concept being conveyed, not just a series of songs--each feels like a unique dive into the artist's headspace and emotions.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Thursday (The 4th Day)” A strange one, I know. It's a somewhat clearer version of my first release EVER: an expression of all the ridiculousness, tumult, and chaos of the back end of 2021. Even now, I still play it when I need a sharp, energetic push forward.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'd say meeting and playing with Gerald Albright. I first saw him on Studio Jams back when BET Jazz was still a thing, and he became a big reason I took to jazz. Playing and soloing over his material felt like the perfect ode to a major influence.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I never honestly had a bucket list for my career. Playing and recording with different artists/bands, things just sort of happened, so I was grateful. Music is my means of connection, communication, and expression, so everything else is just gravy.
