Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember listening to Dream by The Everly Brothers as a 7-year-old, and feeling my heart break, even though I had no real idea what they were singing about. I think that's the first time I realized the emotional power of music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Mayer, The Search for Everything Mumford & Sons, Babel Rich Mullins, A Liturgy, A Legacy & A Ragamuffin Band Babel rocked my whole world (I have a tattoo referencing the final song), Liturgy/Legacy is a stunning and somehow incredibly earthy album that I will never stop returning to, and Search for Everything is a perfect John Mayer record to me.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “You & Me & My Friend Jesus” I wrote this song as an encouragement for a dear friend as he was going through a daunting recovery journey. The lyrics are intentionally simple, to sound like a young kid trying to cheer up his friend, and it's one of my favorites to this day.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Honestly, a true highlight was playing a set for a small halfway house in rural Kentucky. I've been lucky to play a few big stages, but none of those shows come close to the blessing that it was to share my songs with people so hungry for good news.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Of course there are venues that it'd be incredible to headline (The Ryman, Carnegie Hall), but getting to bring music to people and try to serve them with it is truly its own great gift to me, and it's a blessing to leave the rest in God's hands.
