About John Connor
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At 8 years old I went to my first concert. It was the Beach Boys at the Garden State Arts Center. I didn't know it at the time, but The Beach Boys would become my favorite band, and my greatest influence.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders NOFX, The Decline - Single The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds The Beach Boys, Tribe, and Nofx are a great cross section of my interests and influences. I love songwriting and vibes... I'm not super attached to genre. I try to pull everything I love together... but my core is 60s, Hip Hop, and Punk Rock.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Used to Be Much Stronger” John Connor was my life from 2003 through 2006. I gave it everything I had. When it ended, I never thought I'd get back to it. This is the first John Connor song after 20 years away. It felt so great to get back to it.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Whether it's one person or 5000 people, any time I connect to an audience and see them enjoying my art... it makes it so worth it. Playing to 5000 people in Plano Texas for the first time was definitely life changing. I love a good dance party.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'm older now. The people who loved John Connor are too. I hope to put music out that connects with everyone where we are now. Music is often written by people in their 20s for teenagers. I want to show people they can still love new music at 40.
