Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember picking up my dad's old guitar when I was about 7 years old. My instinct was to write something to record it on my fisher price microphone tape machine. When I think about it, that must be the moment I really started creating art.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Beck, Morning Phase Sigur Rós, Inni (Live) Underoath, Define the Great Line Define the great line is a big part of who I am and my love and appreciation for heavy music. Inni by Sigur Rós is probably the best way to experience energy and emotions in an album. Morning Phase, is an album full of surprises.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Rappelle moi” Rappelle-moi is the last song I wrote for DEUIL. It's a conversation with myself while I'm trying to fall asleep. Musically, the song doesn't have a classic verse-chorus structure which I actually love doing. My favourite track to play live.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? With this project, I would say playing le Phoque Off in Quebec City. People were dancing, and having a good time while listening to our set. It was the first time we saw some people move and dance to our music, it's a moment I will never forget.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We just want to share our music and play every show possible. I truly believe that JOLY, needs to be heard live to have the full effect of our songs. We try to bring vulnerability, energy and emotion throughout our set.
