Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest memory is sitting with a piano instructor at age two. From there, the sounds of the Black church, Motown, and ’70s soul became the foundation of my musical DNA.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aretha Franklin, Aretha Live at Fillmore West D'Angelo, Voodoo Marvin Gaye, Here, My Dear My top 3 albums of all time - D’Angelo’s "Voodoo" for its gospel quartet embrace, Marvin Gaye’s "Here, My Dear" for the intricate vocal arrangements and his sheer honesty, and Aretha’s "Live at Fillmore West" for unmatched energy and passion.

Tell us why you chose this song. “Red (Revisited)” Red (Revisited) is my favorite—it’s my story in song, and the track that stretched me most as a vocalist. It's also special to me because it's my wife's favorite song from my catalog.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My most memorable musical experience was recording Ode to Old Flames. Most of the instrumentation was cut in one marathon session, and finishing it with Brad Rosenberg was pure joy.
