The son of a music teacher, singer-songwriter Josh Garrels grew up surrounded by instruments and began making his own home recordings while still in high school.
โ He played in several punk bands before a conversion to Christianity convinced him that he should be writing introspective, acoustic-oriented songs.
โ In 2005, he cofounded Small Voice Records, which has released all of his albums since 2006โs Over Oceans.
โ Christianity Today named Love & War & The Sea In Between its 2011 Album of the Year.
โ Garrels starred in 2013โs The Sea in Between, a full-length documentary film about his life and music.
โ 2015โs Home is his highest-charting album, reaching No. 83 on the Billboard 200.
โ In 2018, he teamed up with Christian singer-songwriter Josh White for an EP on which each artist covered older songs written by the other, and they collaborated on the new song โSpirit Resurrect.โ
