Artist Biography
New York-based singer/songwriter Kat Reinhert is a jazz and classically trained vocalist whose music often straddles the line between jazz and pop. A native of Wisconsin, Reinhert first studied jazz at Lawrence University before relocating to New York in 1996, where she earned her Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. In 2005 she moved yet again, this time to Florida, where she earned an M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Miami. After graduating, Reinhert returned to New York, where she began performing jazz regularly with her group featuring guitarist Perry Smith, bassist Sam Minaie, and drummer Ross Pederson. Her self-produced debut album of all-original material, Chrysalis, appeared in 2009. In 2015 Reinhert returned with two albums: Spark, which showcased her original compositions; and Home Movies, a collection of jazz standards and reworked pop songs by Neil Young, Foo Fighters, and others. ~ Matt Collar
