Born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Kika Edgar began appearing on television in shows such as Primer Amor. She established herself as a singer in 2006 as a contestant on the Pop Idol-style television show Cantando por un Sueño. Her impressive performance resulted in the 2006 CD/DVD of cover songs Cantando por un Sueño, billed to Kika y Raúl. In the wake of this success, Edgar embarked on a solo career in association with Televisa EMI Music, releasing Kika later in the year and scoring a hit single with "Tal Vez." Her follow-up album, Lo Siento Mi Amor (2008), was a Top Ten hit in Mexico. ~ Jason Birchmeier
