After springing the unlikely Brooklynite renaissance of Peruvian psychedelic cumbia as founder and leader of Chicha Libre for well over a decade, producer, club and record label owner Olivier Conan sought a repeat or variation of the formula, this time applied to his native country of France. Once again, the multicultural flux of New York provides the foundation for a project that combines a strong Latin and psychedelic flavor with traditional chanson, '60s yé-yé pop, and the spirit of French mavericks like Serge Gainsbourg. Dubbed Combo Daguerre in tribute to the inventor of photography, the project released their debut album, Fracassines, in 2024.
