Artist Biography
One of the biggest Spanish pop bands of the 2000s, La Quinta Estación first made their name in Mexico and wound up topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
∙ The band’s 2001 debut, Primera Toma, was slow out of the gate, but they got a major boost when “Donde Iran” was tapped as the theme song for the teen telenovela Clase 406.
∙ Success came with their sophomore LP, Flores de Alquiler, which hit No. 4 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart and went multi-Platinum in the US and Mexico.
∙ In 2004, the group was nominated for Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica.
∙ La Quinta Estación finally broke through in their native country with their 2006 album, El Mundo Se Equivoca, which spawned three No.1 singles in Spain.
∙ Both El Mundo Se Equivoca and its 2009 follow-up, Sin Frenos, earned Latin Grammys for Best Pop Album, and the latter won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
∙ “Recuérdame,” the closing track on Sin Frenos, is a collaboration with Latin pop star Marc Anthony.
