Led by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Adam Schatz, Landlady is a Brooklyn band known for their ambitious arrangements that blend experimental pop, artful indie rock, soul, and other styles. Albums like Upright Behavior (2014) and The World Is a Loud Place (2017) earned critical acclaim and helped build their reputation nationally. The group's fourth set, 2021's eponymous Landlady, took a more stripped-down and intimate approach. Conversely, the band's 2025 album Make Up / Lost Time was musically dense and highly collaborative.
