As Legit Smitty, Nashville's Jake Smith creates an intimate world of lo-fi indie rock and folk, with songs that range from wearily introspective to eccentric and playful. Originally from South Carolina, he began releasing music after moving to Nashville for college. Smitty tried out a handful of styles on early EPs like Wasteland Tapes (2020) and Goodwill Steeple (2021) before settling into the all-encompassing sonic amalgam that characterized albums like 2023's Medicine Songs and 2024's poignant Good Grief, which he released on his own Holy Moly imprint.
