Earnestness is Lisi’s calling card. Since breaking out at the end of the 2010s, the Australian rapper has served up blunt yet emotional everyman tales of struggle and perseverance. His first rap exploits were inspired by The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. His career began to explode when he recorded a song he didn’t even think much of. Powered by a speaker-thumping beat, percussive flows, and deft punchlines, “Say Less” promptly went viral upon its release in 2019. In 2020, Lisi continued building his buzz with strong guest appearances on Say True God?’s “T.E.Y.D” and Chillinit’s “Stand For,” among others, for a run that helped crystallize his rise. That same year, Lisi distilled his unique blend of personal stories, skillful wordplay, and melodic spurts on Average Man, a debut project that proved he's anything but.
