Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was little, I climbed onto the stool of my nana's baby grand piano. I pressed the keys and at once, it made complete sense which combinations made sweet rounded sounds, and which made cold angular waves. I felt empowered; my earliest memory.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Caroline Polachek, Pang D'Angelo, Voodoo Sade, Lovers Rock D'Angelo gave me the groove. Sade gave me the flow. Caroline gave me the color. It's the first song I ever wrote that captured all of my influences at once. The groove, the flow, the color, are all exact. External critiques are easy to ignore when my song is great. And this one is.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? A high school music teacher emailed me once. He had been using one of my songs to help teach his students about composition & songwriting and the class loved learning it. It remains the most meaningful thing I've ever been told about my music.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I will write an official Bond movie theme song or I will die trying.
