About Lou Christie
Artist Biography
Best known as the helium-voiced singer responsible for such mid-1960s pop hits as “Lightning Strikes,” “The Gypsy Cried,” and “Two Faces Have I,” Lou Christie was the Roy Orbison of the teen-idol set, delivering a briefly successful combo of stratospheric singing and over-the-top musical melodrama (and significantly, writing his own material with songwriting partner Twyla Hybert). Though he would continue recording for many years, Christie's string of hits ran out at the end of the '60s, and he subsequently became a fixture on the oldies touring circuit.
