About Colin Hay
A Scottish-born singer, songwriter, and actor, Colin Hay has led a widely varied career since breaking out in the early 1980s as the frontman for Australian group Men at Work. Known for pop hits like "Down Under" and "Who Can It Be Now?," Hay's distinctive vocals and inventive songwriting helped Men at Work become staples of the early MTV era. Following the group's 1986 breakup, he reinvented himself as a solo artist and occasional character actor. Hay's work has encompassed a range of styles from strident rock to soulful Americana, though acoustic-driven folk-pop remains his sweet spot. He has also been a member of Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band and was the subject of the 2015 documentary film Colin Hay: Waiting for My Real Life. He continued to record and tour into the 2020s, releasing albums like 2022's Now and the Evermore and 2025's Man at Work, Vol. 2.
