About Mackenzie
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My Dad bought me a pink CD player and every week he would give me a different CD to listen to and I would have to tell him what I thought. He called it my 'musification'. I found a love for so many genres and styles and fell in love with music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Avril Lavigne, Let Go
Noah Kahan, Stick Season (We'll All Be Here Forever)
Sabrina Carpenter, Short n' Sweet
'Let Go' is my all-time favourite album and it made me fall in love with music. 'Stick Season' speaks to my soul and is a No Skip album. 'Short n' Sweet' makes some feel like its summer whenever I listen and makes me wanna dance around my bedroom.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Better Off Alone”
I wrote this song when I was sick of trusting people just to see them leave. It feels like grief, rage and heartbreak, but there is an element of hope and longing in there as if it will get better... because it will, sometimes you have to let it out.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
When BBC Radio 1 played my songs. I cried I couldn't believe I was coming out of the speaker. When I played my first major UK festival in 2024 (Victorious Festival) and I was on the poster! When I get to meet you at shows. Nothing is better than that
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Everything. We are going for world domination. But if I had to pick a few... Headline Wembley Stadium, support Taylor Swift/Avril Lavigne/Paramore/Olivia Rodrigo, play Glastonbury Festival and walk into a shop and my music is just playing.
