Artist Biography
After less than a year in the game, singer and songwriter MarMar Oso captured hearts with his 2018 streaming smash “Ruthless (Nice Guys Finish Last),” a prime example of his sensitive, vulnerable style of R&B.
• Oso was born in Hawaii, where his father, an Army serviceman, was stationed. He later moved to Sacramento, where he was raised in a household of women after his father died in a car accident.
• He began singing in early 2018. The 19-year-old introduced himself with the single “Lost Feelings,” which later appeared on his debut EP, Mixed Emotions.
• Late in 2018, MarMar returned with his breakthrough, “Ruthless (Nice Guys Finish Last),” the fourth song he ever wrote. The song has surpassed 150 million streams.
• He released a pair of “Ruthless” remixes, including one featuring G-Eazy and Quando Rondo.
• In 2020, Oso dropped two projects: Love Don’t Cost a Thing and his debut album, Marvin’s Room. The title of the latter references both his real name (Marvin Webb, Jr.) and his Drake fandom.
