Jan 4, 2016About Matt Simons
California-born singer-songwriter Matt Simon has earned international acclaim with his heartfelt, expertly crafted pop songs.
• Simon is the grandson of opera singers. He picked up saxophone as a kid and earned a degree in jazz saxophone performance at the Purchase College Conservatory.
• He also learned to play clarinet, guitar, and saxophone—and to sing (obviously).
• In 2010, he released his debut EP, Living Proof. He spent the next year traveling around Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands, growing his audience in multiple countries.
• His 2012 debut album, Pieces, features all original compositions, save for a cover of Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Follow You Into the Dark.”
• Because the Pieces track “With You” was chosen as the theme song for the Dutch soap opera Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden, Simons became very popular in the Netherlands.
• The title track off Simons’ 2014 album Catch & Release became a viral hit in Spain and the Netherlands. Dutch DJ and producer Deepend remixed the song into the “Catch & Release (Deepend Remix),” which went Top 10 all across Europe, reaching No. 1 in numerous countries.
