Mega Bog showcases the sophisticated lo-fi of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Erin Birgy, who has recorded both alone and with a shifting collective of musician friends. Birgy herself has contributed to albums by acts including Big Thief, EZTV, singer/songwriter Jaye Bartell, and frequent collaborator Iji. Her work as Mega Bog grew from amorphous beginnings on limited-run cassette releases to the detailed and mysterious songcraft of albums like 2014's Gone Banana and 2021's Life & Another. She smoothed surfaces somewhat for the project's sixth long-player, 2023's groove-heavy End of Everything, which was written on keyboard instruments instead of guitar.
