An in-demand studio and touring musician, bandleader, and online video sensation, Israel-born, Los Angeles, California-based drummer Meytal Cohen was raised in the city of Ramat Gan in Tel Aviv district. After studying tap dance and graduating from high school with a theater major, Cohen took up the drums and served two years in Israel's defense Forces. At the age of 20 she moved to Los Angeles and studied percussion at the Los Angeles Music Academy, and upon graduation, began applying her talents in a live setting, most notably with her band Metaphor, who spent most of 2007 touring internationally. Her online video project, which began in 2010, saw Cohen performing drum covers of popular rock songs, and amassing a huge fan base that resulted in multiple-millions of views. In 2015, under the name Meytal, Cohen issued her debut studio album Alchemy, followed by a sophomore effort, Witness, in 2019. ~ James Christopher Monger
