Texas-based singer-songwriter Micah Tyler parlayed a humorous, Beatles-sampling viral hit into a career as a hard-touring Christian-pop troubadour.
∙ The Gospel Music Association took note of Tyler’s talents early on, naming him its National Male Vocalist of the Year in 2012.
∙ He independently released his first LP, 2013’s The Story I Tell, which debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes Christian/Gospel Chart.
∙ “You Gotta Love Millennials”—his 2016 satirical video about shunning stereotypes, set to the melody of The Beatles’ “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”—has now been viewed more than 65 million times.
∙ His 2017 country-gospel single “Never Been a Moment” was a Christian radio hit, while two other songs from his album Different made the Top 10 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart.
∙ Tyler was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2017 Dove Awards.
∙ Unable to tour during the pandemic, he threw a virtual release party for his 2020 album, New Today, which was “attended” by more than 3.5 million fans.
