Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid, my best friend (and first band-mate) and I got to meet Chuck Berry, then go on stage with him. It was our Back to the Future moment.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Joni Mitchell, Mingus Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life Ween, White Pepper God must be a Boogie Man. I'm stuck in my cabana, living on bananas and blow. You can feel it all over. You can feel it all over, people.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “James & Ann McNaul (feat. Mel Ciriaco & Marcela Carmona)” The song was inspired by a sad story I read, but came together with a life of its own. Then I got two extremely talented women to sing with me on the recording, and it came together as something entirely more than I ever conceived it could be.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I met one of my musical heroes a few years ago, and they quoted some of my lyrics back at me. It blew my mind that they even knew I existed.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I have a lot of unfinished songs. I'd like at least a few to be finished.
