About MIKA
One of the 21st century’s most exuberant pop icons, MIKA possesses an insouciant charm that gives his classically styled songs a modern edge. Born in Beirut in 1983, Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr. wrote his first song as a seven-year-old living in Paris, and he eventually dropped out of London’s Royal College of Music to pursue music full time. Rechristening himself MIKA, he released his pulsing debut single, “Relax, Take It Easy,” in 2006, showing off his lithe falsetto and songwriting acumen. His 2007 full-length debut, Life In Cartoon Motion, spun off five more singles, including the peppy “Lollipop” and the boisterous worldwide breakthrough hit “Grace Kelly.” He followed that up with The Boy Who Knew Too Much, which showcased his songwriting growth. MIKA plunged into clubland in 2012 with The Origin of Love, then brought the focus back to his songwriting on 2015’s ’60s-inspired No Place In Heaven and 2019’s more forthright My Name Is Michael Holbrook.
Influenced by MIKAMIKA has influenced the music of Gabe Furtado, Mukke, KC Star and more.
