In 1999, minimalist heavy rock duo Godheadsilo broke up, and the group's bassist and lead singer Mike Kunka pondered his next move. Kunka joined his like-minded friends the Melvins on a tour, and he and the band began swapping ideas for songs. Before the year was out, he and the Melvins had entered the studio with engineer Tim Green to knock out an album. However, for reasons that appear unclear to all parties involved, the album wasn't completed at the time. In 2015, Kunka approached the Melvins about finishing the long lost collaboration, and engineer Toshi Kasai helped with final overdubs and mixing. Credited to Mike & the Melvins, the album, Three Men and a Baby, dropped in April 2016. ~ Mark Deming
